This photograph, while having some issues with reliability and usefulness, is of great use to a historian studying the grievances of the early 20th century Russian working class in a more industrialised environment. The reliability of this source must be questioned as the creator and location of this photograph are unknown. The lack of knowledge about the author means there is no information on why this was taken and where it was published. The lack of location, as in the previous photograph, makes it difficult to ascertain whether or not this problem was widespread or simply for horse tram owners. As also in the previous photograph, it is unknown if this image has been changed or damaged overtime.
Despite these issues, this source is of great usefulness to a historian through its depiction of the grievances experienced by the Russian working class. The overcrowded and very basic living space depicted serves to prove the social hardships faced, even if just in one sector of society. Furthermore, this photograph is high quality meaning that the details are clear and the image can be easily analysed. Framed, manipulated or not, this photograph still provides a perspective and depiction of the issue which means it can still be of assistance to a historian studying the issues faced by the working class in Russia in facing drastic social and economic change.
